Before you walk in
The briefing tells you what happens on the day. This is what I wish someone had told me before my own exam.
- Know the format. A theory paper, then practical tasks in the tank with a written report. No surprises on the day means more brain for the questions.
- Pack the paperwork. Logbook, dive medical, photo ID. Check the joining instructions for anything else. Do it the night before, not in the car park.
- Sleep. Divers fail tired. The theory paper punishes a foggy head more than a gap in knowledge.
- Read every question twice. The trap answers are built for people who skim. Underline what the question actually asks before you look at the options.
- In the practical, talk the whole time. Say what you see and every reading you take, as you take it. The examiner marks what you report to surface. Silence is a blank page.
- If you cannot take a reading, say why. A clear reason is worth marks. A blank is worth nothing.

The course is the exam practice
The briefing tells you what happens on the day. The NDTPrep 3.1u Complete Study System gets you ready for it, with the theory in syllabus order, the Q&A bank and the Flashcards. Most divers who fail did not lack experience. They lacked exam practice.
