Only what the 3.2u exam asks
The CSWIP material is dense, and much of it is written for the operator, not the exam. This course is not the full manual. It is the theory you need to understand, cut to what the 3.2u paper actually asks.
It assumes you hold your 3.1u and builds on it rather than repeating it. Magnetic particle inspection is the biggest block of the exam, so it gets the most lessons.
- Read the lesson. Five to ten minutes, one topic, plain language.
- Read the tip box. That is the exam talking.
- Take the quiz. If you miss one, the tutor is one tap away.
What divers say
Recently did my 3.2u NDT and this made studying so much easier. At the end of the day who really enjoys studying? However these notes made a tremendous difference. Highly recommend.
Connor DarchWhat a great way to learn and polish your skills and knowledge... I will be using it on my next 3.2u refresher.
MichaelExcellent preparation for CSWIP exams! User friendly, balanced and challenging.

All 12 modules, three parent topics
Ultrasonic flaw detection, magnetic particle inspection, and cleaning and surface preparation. Same module numbers as the 3.2u Q&A Exam Prep and the 3.2u Flashcard Trainer, so the three parts reinforce each other.

- The A-scan Flaw Detector
- Calibration and System Checks
- Practical Flaw Sizing Techniques
- Principles of Magnetism
- Methods of Magnetisation
- MPI Techniques and Variables
- Inspection Media and Viewing Conditions

- Principles of Profile Grinding
- Safety in Cleaning Operations
The AI Tutor
A tutor button in the corner of every lesson. Tap it and ask a question about the topic in front of you. Why every weld gets magnetised twice. What the skin effect does to your penetration.
It only answers on CSWIP content, so it stays on the syllabus. It works at three in the morning on a vessel, when there is no instructor to ask.
Included. No extra cost.
Built by a diver, for divers
I am Sean Fraenkel. I have 25 years offshore as an air and saturation diver, and I hold CSWIP 3.4u and 3.2u.
I built NDTPrep because I have sat these exams myself, and I know how divers usually prepare. A rotation or two before the exam, out comes the thick notebook, the highlighters and every old exam paper you can get your hands on, often memorising answers without knowing whether they are even correct.
NDTPrep gives you the theory, explains what you actually need to understand, and then lets you test yourself with structured questions and practice. You are learning the subject, not memorising somebody else's old answers.
Questions divers ask me
Do I need my 3.1u first?
The course assumes you hold your 3.1u and builds on it. The 3.2u exam still tests 3.1u foundation knowledge, so if corrosion or structural loading feels thin, the 3.1u Theory course shores it up.
Do I need the Q&A and Flashcards as well?
The Theory course is where you learn it. The 3.2u Q&A is where you find out what stuck, and the Flashcard Trainer is where you lock it in. It is a loop, not a line, and you can start anywhere.
Is this the whole CSWIP manual?
No, on purpose. The manual covers everything. This course covers only what the 3.2u exam asks, in plain language, with the exam traps flagged. That is faster and it sticks.
How long does it take?
Most lessons take 5 to 10 minutes to read. Work a module a day, or go straight to the module your exam date needs.
Can I use it offshore on my phone?
Yes. It runs in your phone browser.
How long do I get access?
12 months from the day you buy.
What if it is not for me?
You have 30 days. If it is not working for you, tell me and I will refund you in full. No questions.
